On April 17, 2002. East Timor popular election official announced, Gusmao was elected as the first president of the Democratic Republic of East Timor in 82.69% of the absolute advantage. | On May 20, 2002, East Timor announced the founding of the state and Gusmao officially became president. | This is a very important philatelic item. It records the history of East Timor's general election and the history of UNTAET officers participation and supervision of the process: (1) his mailing date is May 22, 2002. Because May.20. is the official founding of East Timor and Gusmao officially became president of the day. The next day is Sunday, Dili post office does not work. (2) it using the stamp issued by United Nations only for a state, and there is the despatch postmark with 20020522.
